There has been so much learning and individual progress happening in Kindergarten!
In English, we have been focusing on writing sentences. You may have noticed our writing 'Bump it Up Wall' in the classrooms. This supports students to see what writing looks like, how to become an independent writer and set realistic goals. Our big focus is creating an idea and ensuring it makes sense. We are learning to start a sentence with a capital letter, use finger spaces in between words and finish a sentence with a full stop. We use a short phrase and actions to remind of these writing goals. Ask your child about the rhyme. For the remainder of the term we are learning about different animals and using this new information to label the body parts of animals and write super sentences. We are continuing to learn to and practise reading on a daily basis. Students are becoming more confident to have a go at tricky words using their reading friends. Teaching reading happens in the classroom and developing a love of reading happens through a partnership between home and school. As our wise reading expert Mem Fox says 'Reading should always be enjoyable, never teach reading'.
What a success our assembly was in week 6! Thank you to all our our loved ones who were able to come on the day to celebrate our learning. We really appreciate your support.
